B CorpGenuine Solutions announced their new B Corp accreditation this morning with a team celebration and visit to mark the occasion by Sir Edward Davey, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

The highly coveted certification means Genuine Solutions joins a global community of progressive thinking businesses that are putting a wider focus on their outcomes, as opposed to simply shareholder returns.

B Corp certification means a company has demonstrated its commitment to transparency, accountability and sustainability, all critical to the way Genuine Solutions has built the business over the past 16 years.  They are the first business to achieve B Corp certification in the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.

Genuine Solutions, whose customers include Sky, Three and Virgin Media O2 process a broad range of mobile technology products including accessorises, smartphones, tablets and wearables. Their pioneering approach has to date prevented several thousand tonnes of perceived technology waste going into landfill, whilst unlocking value for their clients.  Their long-term company mission is to achieve 100% reuse and zero landfill playing an instrumental role in reducing the impact of e-waste on the environment.

Being a B Corp says a great deal about the kind of company we are and want to be. The team has worked really hard to get us to this point, and we will reap the benefits in the years to come.

Christian McBride, Genuine Solutions CEO, said:

“Becoming a B Corp is important for us, our dedicated team and our customers. There’s one thing believing you are doing the right thing, but quite another getting independent verification that you are. Being a B Corp says a great deal about the kind of company we are and want to be. The team has worked really hard to get us to this point. In the supply chains we operate, reputation and a commitment to certain ways of doing business are critical.”

The organisation responsible for assessing and awarding certification says on its website:

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. It is that achievement that Genuine Solutions is celebrating with today’s announcement.  It was back in 2012, Sir Edward Davey MP originally met with Chris and the team at Genuine Solutions, when he officially opened their Surbiton based office in his constituency of Kingston & Surbiton. They are excited that he joins them today, ten years later to celebrate this important milestone.

I am thrilled to be back with Genuine Solutions joining them celebrating this momentous achievement.

Sir Edward Davey, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and MP for Kingston ad Surbiton said “I am thrilled to be back with Genuine Solutions joining them celebrating this momentous achievement. It’s remarkable to see how far they have come over the past ten years, and to meet the new faces in their expanding team.”
