The recycling scheme has been launched to support giffgaff’s ongoing commitment to reducing e-waste, to make a positive impact on the planet and support its obligations to the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, as well providing a simple solution for its members to do the right thing with disused tech.
E-waste is a growing problem in the UK with a recent report from Uswitch stating that the UK will be the single biggest contributor of e-waste by 2024 if it continues on the same trajectory. Schemes like this help to ensure that unused and unwanted devices are responsibly reused or recycled and any value generated will go towards supporting its nominated charity, The Good Things Foundation, to support its great work in closing the digital divide.
As fellow B Corp’s, who care about people, planet and profit in equal measure, we are proud to partner with giffgaff to help make more sustainable choices and improve its environmental performance.
Paul Crossman, CEO, Genuine Solutions said of the partnership: “We are very proud to work with giffgaff in creating and running their recycling scheme for old tech which is supporting their commitment to reduce e-waste. We love collaborating and playing our part with fellow B Corps to help make our world a much more sustainable place for future generations.”
Chloe-Louise Armer, Social Responsibility Lead for giffgaff added: “We are thrilled to be working with a fellow B Corp to help reduce e-waste.”
